Barbara Lee Woodring

Barbara Lee Woodring 87, of Morganfield, KY passed away on September 19, 2024 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. A Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Barbara was born and raised in the Byrd Hill area of Smith Mills, KY, Barbara was a housewife but also worked at Carhartt, had a newspaper route, and sold Avon. She loved being a Charter member of Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years and wasn’t shy about telling others “Jesus Loves You!” She was an active member of the Eastern Star Chapter #226 in Morganfield until it closed. She gave hugs and smiles freely to just about everyone. She loved her home with all her family photos and what-nots but nothing brightened her day more than seeing the smiling faces of those great-grands when they showed up at her door or woke her up from a nap. She was quick to hug them tight and tell them how much she loved them. The cookie jar was always stocked so they could get a treat when they arrived. She had a green thumb resulting in plants that flourished and always enjoyed watching the crops as they progressed. She was loved by many and leaves an irreplaceable vacancy in our lives, but we know she is safely in heaven today with Jesus and reuniting with her husband, family and friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Cletis Woodring, her parents Corbin Dean Watson and Catherine Watson Alves, sisters Velma Pike and Wanda Henderson, 3 brothers Dean Watson, Alfred Watson and Billy Alves, and granddaughter Lillian Woodring. Survivors include her 4 children Paula(Troy) Wilson of Morganfield, KY; Cletis(Anette) Woodring Jr. of Dixon, KY; Susan(Troy) Davis of Hanson, KY and Angela(Joe) Woodring of Morganfield, KY; 8 grandchildren Stephanie(Jeremy), Brian(Angela), Chris(Miranda), Matt, Jeff(Charlene), Whitney(Willis), Clay(Kayla) and Alan(Jordan); 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Also survived by 3 sisters, 1 brother and 1 sister-in-law, 3 brothers-in-law along with many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday September 23rd, 2024 at 12pm at Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church in Dixon, KY. Rev. Jody Hughes will officiate. Burial will be in David Rest-Boxville Cemetery in Union County, KY. Visitation will be on Sunday September 22nd, 2024 at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY from 5pm until 8pm and then on Monday from 9am until service time at the church.
