Billy Joe Farmer 83 of Dixon, KY died at Baptist Health in Madisonville, KY on Sunday March 16, 2014. He was a retired Coal Miner. He was a deacon and very active member of Slover Missionary Baptist Church in Dixon, KY, he also loved fishing and gardening. He was a US Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He is the son of the late Frank and Georgie Conrad Farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife Lanna Sue Melton Farmer. Survivors include two daughters Jennifer Stone and Jeana Akins both of Dixon, KY; one son Ronnie Farmer of Dixon, KY; two sisters Ruth Shoulders of Clay, KY and Susie Blackston of Henderson, KY; two brothers Paul Farmer of Evansville, IN and Carol Wayne Farmer of Orange, Texas; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Wednesday March 19, 2014 at 1pm at Slover Missionary Baptist Church in Dixon, KY. Rev. Tim Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Slover Cemetery in Dixon. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Tuesday and from 8am until 11am on Wednesday at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, and from noon until service time on Wednesday at the church. Military services will be conducted graveside by the Hopkins County Honor Guard.
