Frances Smith Green, 67, of Dixon, KY passed away at her home on July 10, 2015 under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. Frances was born August 6, 1947 in Lexington, KY. She is the daughter of the late Frank Rankin and Sarah Margaret Smith. She attended Henry Clay High School in Lexington followed by Gulf Park College in Gulfport, MI. She also attended the University of Kentucky, where she met her husband of 42 years, John Green of Dixon, KY. She was a member of the Dixon United Methodist Church in Dixon, KY. She is also survived by a daugther Tanna Green Williams (and son-in-law KT) of Henderson, KY, two grandchildren Sarah (11) and Adam (8), one aunt (Jean Eason of Lexington), and her sister in spirit, Linda Nims. From 1975 - 2014, Frances owned and operated Green Hill Stables in Dixon, KY where she lived out her life’s passion and instructed countless students in horseback riding. She was a co-founder with Linda Nims of the West KY Saddlebred Association where she was president for many years. In addition to her love for horses, Frances enjoyed camping, kayaking, dancing, and spending time with her family and friends. In lieu of funeral services, a celebration of life memorial service will be held at Townsend Funeral Home at 12:00pm on Saturday, July 18, 2015. Friends may come and visit between 9am until service time at 12:00pm at the funeral home. Rev. David Spaulding will officiate.
