Jack spent his life in service to others starting as a corporal in the U.S. Army and continuing through ministry, teaching, music, counseling, and finally through his work for 45 years at Earl C. Clements Job Corps. He was an active member of Methodist Temple, especially in his Sunday school class and in the music department.
He was devoted to his family and is survived by one daughter, Tiffany Sights, of Henderson; his son Mark Gold and his wife, Carolyn, of Lexington; and his son, Scott Gold, of Henderson. He is also survived by his sister, Lynn, and her husband, Orville, of Lexington; and his brother, Tom, and his wife, Janice also of Lexington. His other survivors include his beloved nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Because of the important role the people of Methodist Temple played in his later life, visitation will be held in the chapel of that church (2109 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, Indiana) from 1 PM - 2 PM Sunday, October 2, followed by a memorial service at 2 PM. Rev. Pat Jackson will officiate.
The family would like to acknowledge the excellent care and compassion given by the telemetry staff at Deaconess Gateway Hospital, Redbanks Skilled Nursing Center, and Saint Anthony's Hospice over the last few months. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Redbanks Skilled Nursing Center (resident activity fund), 851Kimsey Lane, Henderson, Kentucky 42420 or to Methodist Temple, 2109 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, IN 47714.
