Jim Oates 65, of Dixon, KY passed away on Sunday June 16th, 2024 at the Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson, KY. Jim was a retired truck driver, having driven for several different trucking companies. Jim had worked as a Deputy Police Officer for the Webster County Sheriff’s Office and was a volunteer Firefighter for 32 years for the Dixon Fire Department He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was the son of the late Rozell Raben Thomas. He was preceded in death by his son Justin Oates and his step father Charles Thomas. Survivors include his wife of 29 years Patricia Oates of Dixon, KY; 2 daughters Sherry(Travis) Glassco of Dixon, KY and Lisa(Charles) Burnett of Sebree, KY; 2 sisters Tammy Ward of Georgia and Elaine Denton of Florida; 2 brothers Randy Thomas of Michigan and Mark Nichols of Georgia; 2 grandchildren Preston Glassco and Briana Rakestraw and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 20th, 2024 at 2pm at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY. Rev. Mitchell Ferguson will officiate. Burial will be in Townsend Cemetery in Dixon, KY. Visitation will be from 11am until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
