It is with both sadness and gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Laura Jewell Samples on October 28, 2024, at the age of 96. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, she left this world surrounded by family and love, having given so much of herself to those blessed to know her.Laura was born on October 5, 1928, in Poole, KY. From a young age, her faith and compassion guided her every step, becoming a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew her. She was a devoted member of Shady Grove General Baptist Church, faithfully attending every service, prayer meeting, and revival. Her faith was her foundation, and her kindness and grace were a source of light to all who knew her. A woman who placed family above all else, Laura was a dedicated mother and grandmother who instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of love and Christian faith. She was the heart of her family, known for her delicious meals, warm hugs, and loving heart. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and selflessness.She leaves behind an adoring husband, Oral Samples. Their marriage of 77 years is a testament to her devotion and loving spirit. Laura will be dearly missed by her children, Martha (Jerry) Baker of Paris, KY, Steve (Joanna) Samples of Oklahoma, and Rob (Vickie) Samples of Minnesota; her grandchildren, Grant, Emily, Neal, Ben, Jacob, Betsy, Wesley, and Mary Laura; her great grandchildren, Andrew, KJ, Eli, Shelby, Kairi, and Lincoln; and her extended family and friends who cherished her deeply. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. A celebration of Laura's life will be held at Lusk McFarland Funeral Home 1120 Main St., Paris, KY on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 1:00 PM by Pastor Josh Ancello. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the hour of service at the funeral home on Friday. A graveside service will be held at Shady Grove Cemetery in Poole, KY on Saturday, November 2 at 2pm by Rev. Dean Esarey Pallbearers will be Grant Baker, Bradon Rector, Andrew Baker, Wesley Samples, Jim Ashby and Jeff Newman. Honorary pallbearers will be Eli Baker and Zac Overbek. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to Shady Grove General Baptist Church outreach ministries. Though her presence will be profoundly missed, we find comfort knowing she is now with her Lord, embraced in the eternal peace she so deeply believed in.
