Martha Lang

Martha Jean Melton Lang 85, of Providence, KY formerly of Fayetteville, GA passed away Sunday March 25, 2018. She was born on July 30, 1932 in Corydon, KY to the late Dorris R. and Rubye A. Melton. Martha was baptized at an early age at Poole Missionary Baptist Church and was a long standing member of New Hope Baptist Church in Fayetteville, GA. Martha had a deep love of the Lord and shared her faith and wisdom to many throughout her life. She was blessed to see her girls and grandchildren walk down the aisle and accept Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Martha was a 1950 graduate of Poole High School. She began working at Camp Breckenridge Army Post in 1950 where she began her civil service career. When Camp Breckenridge closed she moved to Fort Knox, KY where she met her loving husband of 49 years, then 1st Lieutenant Francis(Frank) G. Lang Jr. Martha retired from Fort McPherson, GA in 1993 after 20 years of civilian service. However, if asked, Martha would say her most rewarding career was that of wife, mother and grandmother.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, her brother Dorris Ray Melton, two sisters Sue Melton Tapp and Freida Melton Sandefur. She is survived by her two daughters Lori Lang Shroyer(John) of Fayetteville, NC and Lynn Lang Murphy of Gainesville, GA; grandchildren Thomas Andrew Murphy of Gainesville, GA; John Joseph Shaw III of Fayetteville, NC; Kathleen Ann Seasock(Daniel) of Slippery Rock, PA and Allison Marie Shaw of Fayetteville, NC one sister Barbara Parish (Omar) of Madisonville, KY; two brothers Jerry Melton(Barbara) and Larry Melton(Faye) both of Dixon, KY; several nieces and nephews.
