Mary T. Hammers 55, of Dixon, KY, passed away at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro, KY on Wednesday March 30, 2016. She was retired from the Webster County School System, having taught at Slaughters Elementary for many years, she was a member of the Poole Church of Christ in Poole, KY. She was the daughter of the late Helburn and Ora Lee Tapp. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband Jimmy Liggett. Survivors include her daughter Emily Hammers of Dixon, KY and her son Derek Hammers of Algonquin, IL; 4 sisters Sarah Scott of Slaughters, KY; Wanda Duncan of Hanson, KY; Judy Dorris of Henderson, KY and Lesa Brahm of Huntsville, AL; 3 brothers George, Phillip and Paul Tapp all of Dixon, KY; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Saturday April 2, 2016 at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY. Minister Bill Doyle will officiate. Burial will be in Boxville Cemetery in Boxville, KY. Visitation will be from 4-8pm on Friday and from 8am until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
