Mary K. Puryear

Mary Katherine Puryear, 86, of Poole, KY passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Homeplace of Henderson in Henderson, KY.

Mary K. was born on Sunday, May 29, 1938, to Rankin and Dorothy Crowley Melton. She was a lifelong resident of Webster County.

 Mary K. was born on the farm where she spent her entire life. She was a farm girl at heart and took great pride in the land. She loved - even preferred - the outdoors, especially the summer months! Mary K. worked side by side with her husband, Sam, for over 65 years. She was as comfortable and confident driving her tractor or grain truck as she was in the kitchen, where she spoiled the entire family with her excellent cooking. Mama K., as she was known to many, enjoyed regular visits from her grandsons, and worked to instill in them a love for the adventures of farm life.

 She was a longtime member of the Poole, KY Church of Christ.

 Mary K. is survived by her daughter, Renae Rideout of Poole, KY; son, Randall L. (Libby) Puryear of Mt. Juliet, TN; three grandsons, Ryan N. Rideout (Jacklyn) of Slaughters, KY; Aaron L. Puryear (Peyton) of Mt Juliet, TN; Daniel K. Puryear of Nashville, TN; three great-grandsons Reece Newton Rideout, Hudson Neil Rideout, Lincoln Lee Puryear; two great-granddaughters Liesl Baker Puryear, Lively Tate Puryear; sisters-in-law Dorothy Lauver and Patty Springer; several cousins and a host of friends.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam, her sister, Alice Jane Melton, and her in-laws, Kestner and Amelia Puryear.

 Services will be held at 1PM on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY. Visitation will be from 10AM-1PM at the Funeral Home with burial at Shady Grove Cemetery in Poole, KY.
