Mildred K. Jones

Mildred K. Jones 99, of Slaughters, KY passed away on Wednesday January 15th, 2025 at  Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville, KY. She was a member of Mt. Gilead General Baptist Church in Slaughters, KY, where she taught children’s Sunday school for several years. Mildred enjoyed gardening, canning, baking crocheting and quilting. She was a very talented seamstress and had a sharp mind and vast knowledge of past and present events. Mildred was the daughter of the late Whitson and Ruby Cates Townsend. She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin Jones, a son-in-law Robert H. Whitson, a brother Buford Townsend and a step granddaughter Brenda Coomer. Survivors include her daughter Jo Ann Whitson of Bowling Green, KY; special family friends Robert & Mary Sue Winstead of Slaughters, KY; 2 step grandchildren Bobby(Jennifer) Whitson and Deborah(Joe) Inman, 8 step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 18th, 2025 at 2pm at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY. Rev. Alec Hensley and Rev. Harry Baldwin will officiate. Burial will be in Slaughters Cemetery in Slaughters, KY. Visitation will be from 11am until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
