Nancy Jean (Murray) Palmer of Providence, KY passed away Tuesday, April 16th, in Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY. She was born on February 22nd, 1960 in Detroit, MI to Robert and Barbara Murray.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Chip Palmer, to whom she was married for 43 years. Nancy had three children: Tracy (Matt) Hudson of Louisville, Kentucky, Bob (Allyson) Palmer of Providence, Kentucky, and Kristen (Zane) Copeland of Miami, Oklahoma.
Nancy also had 9 grandchildren and is probably bragging about them to folks in glory
right now: Dawson, Kendall, Kylie, Sophia, Eli, Aliyah, Keith, William, and Max.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Robert, and her sister, Robin. She is survived by her mother, Barbara, who lives in Providence, KY and her little brother Bob, who is married to Tabitha and lives in Spring Hill, TN. Nancy had two very special in-laws, James and Rachel Palmer, who live in Dixon, KY and also led a special group of “outlaws,” who joined the Palmer family by marriage. She had numerous nieces and nephews, who affectionately called her 'Aunt Nancy' and loved her dearly.
To know Nancy was to love her. Her personality was much bigger than her and she filled whatever room she entered. She never met a stranger and left a trail of friends and close acquaintances wherever she went. At her heart, Nancy was a servant. She was the daughter of a minister and married a minister who was also a soldier. She worked a variety of jobs, many of which centered around serving others, and she also volunteered her time to a number of civic groups and church committees. It's not a cliche to say that Nancy's service work and service vocations created a list that was far too long to list here.
Nancy's legacy is her family. She built a lasting marriage with Chip and God blessed her with children and grandchildren who still struggle to express their love and admiration for her. Nancy was not shy when it came to talking about her family. She loved showing photos, telling stories, and even engaging strangers at the Dollar Store about her pride and joy. Even in her final days, she was planning future events and looking forward to celebrations and gatherings with her loved ones.
Most importantly, Nancy was a Godly woman of deep faith. Her steady lifelong faithfulness to Christ left an impression on more people than any of us will ever know. She did her best to live and love like Jesus, and that commitment continues to bring blessings to those that knew her.
