Paul Howard Gardner, 71, of Owensboro, Ky., died after a year-long fight with cancer on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Hospice of Western Kentucky-Heartford House in Owensboro, Ky. He attended Webster County High School in Dixon, Ky where he lived and worked for most of his life as an insurance agent at Gardner-Polley Insurance Agency. He was a Member of the Lions Clubs International, he was very active in the community. He enjoyed his family and playing golf. He is preceded in death by his father, Frank; his mother, Bessie; two sisters Carolyn Slemp and Reva Shoulders; and a brother, David Gardner. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Sharon Clark Gardner, two sons; James (Chris) Gardner and wife, Sherris; Kevin Gardner and wife, Melissa; his daughter, Paula (Gardner) Hall and husband, Todd; 5 grandchildren, Jessica Reinke, Bradley, Elizabeth, and Miranda Gardner, and Hudson Hall. 5 brothers; Jerry, Darrell, Roger, Malcolm and Terry Gardner; one sister, Ann Vessels. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, Ky. Visitation will be held from 12:00 – 2:00pm. Bro. John Brumfiel will officiate. The family encourages donations to be made to the Cancer Research Institute (www.cancerresearch.org) or a charity of their choosing.
