Powell Rakestraw Jr.

Powell Davis Rakestraw Jr., 71, loving husband and father of two children passed away at his home on Wednesday May 5, 2021. Powell Jr. was born on April 12, 1950 to Powell and Mary Frank Rakestraw. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Chuch. He was a third generation farmer for 51 years. On June 6, 1970, he married Marsha Lorene Fulks and they raised a son Jason and a daughter Jennifer. Powell Jr. was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Terry. He is survived by his wife Marsha, 1 son Jason (Judith) Rakestraw of Slaughters, KY and 1 daughter Jennifer (Mike) Windhorn of Lexington, KY, 9 precious grandchildren; Mary Kate, Paige, Ella, Jaelyn, Anna, and Emma Rakestraw, Katelyn, Isaac and Emily Windhorn that he loved very much; 2 sisters- Ann Liggett of Dixon, KY and Sandra Olson of Slaughters, KY; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY at 1 PM Tuesday May 11, 2021. Bro Alec Hensley will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Slaughters, KY. Visitation will be 3-8 on Monday and 8am till service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
