Ronnie C. Oakley, 78 of Dixon, KY passed away at his home on Wednesday August 24th, 2022. He was born on February 22, 1944 in Providence, KY to James C. and Zetta Hall Oakley. He was of the Baptist Faith and attended Waggoner Church. He graduated in 1963 from Southern high School in Okolona, KY and attended Ventura College in 1968. He attended 4 years of electrical school and training through Local 369 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, earning a Journeyman Electrician Certificate. He retired from GE in Madisonville, KY in April of 2000. He worked there as machine maintenance for 21 years. He was a member of the Local 1701 CWA. He also was owner and president of RONO Trucking, which was an over the road trucking company from 1980 to 1985. Ron worked in the Electrical Construction from 1969 to 1980 through the International Brotherhood-Electrical Workers Local 369. He had a Master Electrician and Electrical Contractor’s License. He served 2 years in the US Navy as ADJ-3 Aviation Electrician and received a Vietnam service medal. He was a KY Colonel. He was a member of the American Legion and past member of the Dixon Lion’s Club. He was a certified Sky Diver and Scuba Diver and enjoyed hunting on his farm. He enjoyed hang gliding and flying Ultra Lites with a #4 rating in both. Survivors include 2 daughters Lisa(David) Castranio of Cary, NC; Kim Lawson of Mt. Washington, KY; 3 grandchildren Brittainy Smith, Sandra May, and Danie Yount; 2 great grandchildren Elijah Turner and Ace Lee and several cousins. Memorial services will be held on Friday September 9th, 2022 at 2pm at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY. Rev. Barry Cullen will officiate.
