Samuel Lee Puryear
Sam Puryear, 84, of Poole, KY died on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at his home.
Sam was born on October 29, 1937, in Union County, KY to the late Kestner and Amelia Railey Puryear, owners of Puryear’s Store in Poole, KY. His family relocated to Detroit, MI in 1942 where Sam lived for 10 years. He was a Kentucky Colonel and was a lifelong dedicated farmer who, along with his wife, Mary K., enjoyed the outdoors and working on their farm.
He was a member of the Poole Church of Christ.
Sam is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Katherine Melton Puryear; one daughter, Renae Rideout of Poole, KY; one son, Randall L. (Libby) Puryear of Maryville, TN; two sisters, Dorothy Bridwell Lauver (Fred) of Henderson, KY and Patty Springer (Ronnie) of Corydon, KY; 3 grandsons, Ryan N. Rideout (Jacklyn) of Slaughters, KY; Aaron L. Puryear (Peyton) of Mt Juliet, TN; Daniel K. Puryear of Nashville, TN; 4 great grandchildren, Reece Newton Rideout, Hudson Neil Rideout, Lincoln Lee Puryear and Liesl Baker Puryear; nieces and nephews.
Every farmer puts his land to rest for the winter. And, on the spring horizon, it is brought back to life. God has now provided this farmer his rest and will see him through the horizon to a new life.
Services will be held at 1PM on Friday, July 8, 2022, at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY with Bro. Gary Puryear officiating. Visitation will be from 10AM-1PM. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery in Poole.
