Wallen B. (Jobe) Winstead, 89, of Dixon, KY passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. She was born on January 11, 1929, in Hopkins County, KY to Richard & Maymie (Forester) Jobe. She loved to go fishing, play cards and spend time with family, especially her great grandchildren. She was well known for her handmade quilts. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Dixon.
Wallen is survived by her sons, Jerry Winstead (Karen) of Dixon and Robert Winstead (Mary Sue) of Slaughters; granddaughters, Michele Person (Kevin) of Mount Washington, KY, Dawn Martin (Eric) of Princeton, IN, Christy Simpson (Jerry) of Madisonville, KY, Carrie Winstead of Evansville, IN and Libby Smith (Joshua) of Dixon, KY; great-grandchildren, Dillon Martin of Indianapolis, IN, Beth & Kara Martin of Princeton, IN, Madelyn & Mollie Simpson of Madisonville, KY and Landon Smith of Dixon, KY; sister, Columbine Crowley of Hanson, KY; twin brother, Ashby Lee Jobe of Collinwood, TN; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack Alan and Mary Ann Winstead of Miamisburg, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 66 years, Benny Clay Winstead; sisters, Mallie Majors, Jeanette Browning and Anna Mae Hayes; and brothers, Willard, C.J., Charlie & Arnold Jobe.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY, officiated by Bro. Kerry Smith. Burial will follow at Townsend Cemetery in Dixon. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Anthony’s Hospice, 2410 S. Green St., Henderson, KY 42420.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to caregiver, Michelle Goodwin, who not only devotedly cared for Wallen for the past four years, but also for Benny before his passing in 2014.
